It all started with a term paper.
Back in 2001, I was enrolled in a Production & Operations course for my MBA. Our assignment was to invent a fictitious product and come up with a production plan for its manufacture. I remembered that a recent rock climbing outing had us padding edges with backpacks and jackets, preserving our ropes but destroying our gear. There were no readily available rope protectors at the local climbing stores so I decided that this fictitious device would be a commercially available rope protector for the everyday climber at an affordable price. When I returned home for Thanksgiving break, I asked my father, a seasoned mechanical engineer, for his input. In the space of an evening we had an idea for an actual prototype and a family business was born.
Today, the Spiroll® has evolved into a climbing, rescue, rope access, maritime, and industrial product line, with distribution all over the world and tens of thousands of units sold. We are proud to manufacturer this product ourselves right here in New England and procure all supplies and services from U.S. companies, many of whom are local as well.
We always enjoy hearing from our customers and visitors. If you have any comments or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact us at anytime.
